On the night before Valentine's Day it was a sweet Senior
Night for four-year Varsity players Leah Schneider and Madelyn
Koehler. The two seniors led the Lady Railers in an Apollo
Conference win over the Effingham Flaming Hearts on Thursday night
at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium. The final score was 60-34.

The Lady Railers never trailed in this one, jumping out to an early
13-3 lead. The Flaming Hearts ended the quarter on a 4-0 run as
Lincoln held on to a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter belonged to Schneider, as the senior took over
and poured in 15 points to lead the Lady Railers to a 34-15 halftime
lead.
Lincoln would stretch the lead to 43-17 in the third quarter with
Cadence Presswood knocking down baskets and Madelyn Koehler hitting
a three. Schneider also continued hitting in the lane and her final
basket of the game came with just :12 seconds left in the third
quarter, giving Lincoln a comfortable 46-19 lead.
In the fourth quarter, sophomore Ava Gorens turned up the heat and
drove to the basket for Lincoln, taking advantage of scoring
opportunities much to the delight of her cheering section in the
corner. Gorens stepped up and poured in seven points in the quarter.
Her two layups in the lane looked real good, while three of her free
throws hit nothing but net. In fact, Gorens would settle the score
at 60-34 after she sank two technical foul free throws as the game
was winding down.
Leah Schneider led all scorers with 25 points. Madelyn Koehler
finished her career on Neil Alexander Court with 12 points. Cadence
Presswood also scored 12 points for Lincoln.
The Lady Railers improve to 12-17 on the season and 5-6 in the
Apollo Conference.
