Land of Lincoln CEO announces February 29th "Dancing through the decades"
Group activity develops entrepreneurial skills in students

 

[February 14, 2020]  LINCOLN - The 13 juniors and seniors from the Land of Lincoln Creative Entrepreneurial Class class have been diligently working these past few months in preparation to host their upcoming event, Dancing Through The Decades: Leaping Back to the Twentieth Century. The dance, held Feb. 29 at the Knights of Columbus hall in Lincoln, will also feature a catered meal and trivia.

Students in the CEO class must work together to form a team business before moving on in March to individual businesses. This team business is challenging because of the variety of personalities and thousands of ideas this group creates.

Conner Noreuil, a junior from Olympia High School, said, “It has been a tough and stressful project, but it has definitely been rewarding.”

The catered meal by the Knights of Columbus, will include a choice of fried chicken or roast beef and sides. Tables will be decorated in all of the decades from the 1920s through the 20th century.

Decade-themed trivia will provide an opportunity for the diners and dancers to win gift baskets as well as interact with the decade-themed photobooth.

Silent auction items are sought for the event, which not only teaches team building and business planning, but also provides some seed money for their individual businesses.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on that Saturday evening with dinner starting at 6 p.m. Diners and dancers are encouraged to dress in their favorite decade attire as well to add to the fun.

A convenience fee will be added to any online orders.

Sponsorships are currently available and students have been actively seeking those by visiting businesses in the surrounding counties.
