Remnants of Wednesday’s snow and Thursday’s frigid temperatures could not keep the Lincoln Art Institute from opening the first show of 2020.

Members of Logan County Arts attending the Wild Card opening create a portrait. The organization started several years ago with two or three local members, and now it has grown exponentially. This portrait represents many LCA members, but certainly not all. The growing membership brings a diversity of media to the always interesting art shows at the Lincoln Art Institute. Members come from all over central Illinois.

Tony Shuff caught the season perfectly with “Illinois Winter Landscape I.”

Nicole Lee then switched seasons from Tony with her watercolor “Spring.” This is Nicole’s first showing as a member of Logan County Arts. LCA member Sheralyn Bolton convinced her to become a member and display her art. “I used to finish a piece and put it in the closet. I never thought I would be able to display my art in such a terrific gallery,” she said.

Each show for 2020 will feature a lesson in different techniques that are represented in the show. This one delves into monotypes.

“Music is My Life” could not be more true for Sheralyn Bolton. She sings in church and as a member of the Lincoln Community Theater. Did you catch her as a cast member in the stellar production by LCT of “Midwinter Night’s Dream” last weekend?

“Love trumps Denial” features Alice Ferguson’s homage to climate activist Greta Thunberg.
