Enel Green Power has started operations of the 66 MW Whitney Hill
wind project in Logan County. Whitney Hill is an addition to the 185
MW HillTopper wind farm that began commercial operation in December
2018.
“This is an exciting milestone for Enel Green Power’s continued
growth here in central Illinois,” said Shad Little, site supervisor
of the HillTopper and Whitney Hill wind projects. “We’re grateful
for our partnerships with local landowners and community members,
and we look forward to generating sustainable value for this
community in the years to come.”
Whitney Hill will generate around 246 GWh annually and is expected
to create over $13 million in property tax revenue and over $14
million in lease payments for local landowners over the life of the
project. Both the Whitney Hill and HillTopper wind projects were
developed by Swift Current Energy.
Enel Green Power is invested in central Illinois and committed to
the long-term sustainability of the communities where it operates.
In Mt. Pulaski, Enel Green Power has helped establish a community
development fund that has supported a variety of initiatives
critical to the community such as funding for local schools and the
establishment of a local grocery co-op. These initiatives will
benefit the company’s local employees as well as the community at
large.
Enel Green Power has another six projects under construction
including the 236.5 MW White Cloud wind project in Missouri; the 299
MW Aurora wind project in North Dakota; the 50 MW expansion of the
High Lonesome wind project and 245 MW second phase of the Roadrunner
solar project, both in Texas; and the 105 MW Riverview and 29.4 MW
Castle Rock Ridge II wind projects, both in Alberta, Canada.
