[January 10, 2020]
Beginning January 20, the seasonal weight limits will be in effect
on all Logan County Highways. These roads are marked with 5-sided
blue signs and are posted with weight limit signs.
During the winter months, soils will freeze and thaw repeatedly.
These conditions pose a problem for our local roads which were not
designed to support heavy traffic. Heavy trucks can cause
significant damage during these freeze/thaw cycles.
All vehicles in excess of the weight limits need to have a permit
issued by the Logan County Highway Department. Permits will only be
valid on days when road conditions are suitable for hauling, as
determined by the Highway Department. Status of the road conditions
will posted on the Highway Department’s website calendar.
Permits are available by visiting our website at
www.logancountyil.gov/ highway by calling (217) 732-3059, or by
visiting the Highway Department at 529 S. McLean Street in Lincoln.

Hauling on township roads should be coordinated with the respective Township
Road Commissioner.
Taxpayer dollars can be better spent if we can prevent damage to our roads. So,
again this year, the Logan County Highway Department is asking for cooperation
to help keep our roads in good condition.
