LINCOLN
- The jackpot for the weekly Queen of Hearts raffle hosted by
Carroll Catholic School was $20,637 at last Sunday’s drawing. As the
queen of hearts was not revealed, the jackpot will roll over to next
Sunday’s drawing.

Principal David Welch estimates the jackpot will
likely exceed $22,000. In addition, he would like to invite more of
the community to be present next Sunday at the Knights of Columbus.
“The event is certainly open to the public, and all are welcome to
attend and try their luck. We’ve seen crowds increase steadily each
Sunday, as the jackpot has grown, and it is a fun couple of hours on
a Sunday afternoon.”
Queen of Hearts is a progressive raffle, and the jackpot grows each
week that the winning face card is not revealed. The raffle board
consists of 54 cards: a regular poker deck and two jokers.
A player purchases tickets for one dollar apiece and
writes on each ticket their name and card number they wish revealed.
A single ticket is then pulled from the tumbler and that lucky
person’s card number is turned over. The winner will receive
sixty-percent of the jackpot if it is the queen of hearts. All other
cards pay cash prizes as well.

The raffle is held each Sunday at the Knights of
Columbus, 217 N. Limit Street in Lincoln, with the ticket drawing at
6:00 pm. Tickets go on sale before the drawing, beginning at 4:00
pm. Tickets are sold also for one hour following the drawing for the
next week’s raffle.
