The Moksha Center is opening its doors this week to offer classes,
events, and programs for health and wellness. Located at 517 N Sangamon
Street, the Center is the creation of owner, Marcia Cook. Cook is also
the director of Castle Manor, the local senior living community, and has
25 years of experience in the healthcare sector as a nurse, a Healing
Touch Practitioner, and more recently a Professional Life & Leadership
Coach. Her philosophy of care, and that of the Center, offers a holistic
approach to wellness, honoring the connection of body, mind, and spirit.
Cook has gathered a small team of professionals to provide a variety of
holistic services: Deiy Shuff is offering yoga; Joyce Leisman, Reiki
training; Tara Drake, Ayurveda Wellness Balancing; and Marcia Cook, life
coaching and Healing Touch therapy. Beginning this month are weekly yoga
classes and in February several programs are on offer such as a Vision
Board Workshop.

“Moksha" is a Sanskrit word meaning freedom, letting go or liberate. “The vision
for the Moksha Center is to bring together like-minded people for a wellness
journey, and to offer an environment that promotes self discovery, healing and
connection,” says Cook. She wants the Center to be a place for exploring
creativity and having fun—to be a community of sorts where participants can
learn from each other and share their gifts to support growth and wellbeing. The
Center itself is a creative inspiration in that it doubles up as an art gallery
for local artist and sculptor, Jason Hoffman.
