Emma Boyd, Emma Stoltzenburg, Bayleigh Gillum,
Madeline Cook and Mia Hullinger will compete for a chance to
participate in the IHSA State competition next weekend in
Bloomington.
The team is already very decorated this
season, under the direction of Coach
Brande Montgomery, who shares a passion for dancing with her
team. According to Montgomery, the girls dance every weekend of
the year until the middle of February. They
compete in both the IHSA (Illinois High School Association) and
the IDTA (Illinois Drill Team Association).
So far this season the team has earned six first place trophies,
two second place trophies and three state qualifications.
In addition to IHSA State, the IDTA also hosts state
competition.
IDTA State will be held in Springfield
February 14 and 15 and the ladies have
already qualified two dances for that.
On Thursday night at Roy S. Anderson
Gymnasium the team performed Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” during
halftime, a song that came out in 1977. Montgomery chose the
song and the girls carried it off perfectly. They will dance to
that song today at Sectionals.
Good luck, Railettes!
