Todd Kelly, a senior at Mount Pulaski High School, has signed
his national letter of intent to play baseball at Spoon River
College in Canton, Illinois.
Kelly signed his letter on Monday, January 13, 2020, in
front of friends and family at Mount Pulaski High School. His
Hilltopper teammates and coaches, Joel Washko and Troy Burgard,
were also in attendance.
Kelly is excited for the opportunity to play for the Snappers
and attend Spoon River for a number of reasons.
“They are building a brand new baseball stadium so they will
have a brand new field when I get there next year,” said Kelly.
“The housing is only three years old I think and the walk from
my apartment to the class building is really close. The class
sizes are small. Plus, I
am thinking about transferring to Western Illinois University
after my two years at Spoon River and for Criminal Justice they
have Western professors come over and teach. So if I go to
Western I’ll know what to expect.”
Hilltoppers head coach Joel Washko is proud of Kelly for putting
in the work that led to this opportunity at the next level.
