The Railers Wrestling Team honored six seniors on Tuesday night at
Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium just ahead of the dual with Effingham and
Mattoon.
Those seniors recognized along with family members were Jake
Benninger, Trevor Bree, Austin Daniels, Jayden Graham, JT Guzzardo
and Brandon Sweitzer.
Coach Justin Dietrich had nice things to say about his seniors and
their accomplishments after the dual, in which Lincoln defeated
Effingham 63-3 and then lost to Mattoon 46-24.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last four years with this group,” said
Dietrich. “One of the best and hardest things about my job as a
coach is to help raise them up, and then turn them out into the
world. But I know we did our job right if they go out courageously
with their heads held high.
"I’m thankful for these guys staying in the fight with us coaches
and believing in our program. When this group came in as freshman,
our program was coming off a 5-18 season record. Their freshman year
they got to 8-15 and then we’ve had three straight winning seasons.
We are currently 14-8 with one dual left, which is the most wins
we’ve had in a season since I’ve been the head coach.
"This group is leaving our program better than they found it, and
that’s one of the most respectable things a high school athlete can
do for their program.”
Congratulations, Seniors!!
