University of Illinois Extension offers education on "Mason Bees" at Mason State Nursery February 13th
 

[January 30, 2020]    Stress from chemicals and loss of habitat can put pressure on native bee populations.

There are a variety of ways we can help support the native bee population. Join University of Illinois Extension staff to learn more about Mason Bees, create a simple bee hotel and learn the most effective ways we can help the native bee population.

Nicole Flowers-Kimmerle, horticulture educator serving Fulton, Mason, Peoria and Tazewell counties, will be presenting a program about Mason Bees on Thursday, February 13, 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Mason State Nursery, 17855 N. County Road 2400E, Topeka.

Learn about this native solitary bee’s life cycle, their role in pollination, and how to best support a population in your own backyard.

Bring an empty “tin” can to create a simple bee hotel. We will discuss the most effective ways to support the native bee population.
