[January 30, 2020]  MOUNT PULASKI - Louise Voelker, 85, passed away at 9:39 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.

Visitation:  10 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski

Service:  11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home

Services for Louise will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Robert Twist officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service also at the funeral home. Burial at Elkhart Cemetery will follow the service.

Obituary

Louise Voelker, 85, passed away at 9:39 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.

Louise was born on May 5, 1934 in Athens, daughter of Russel and Mary Frances (Carter) Pittman. She married John Irish III, he preceded her in death on June 29, 1984. She married Vernon Voelker on February 16, 1985, he preceded her in death on December 26, 2014.

Surviving Louise are her children: Susan (Gerald) Turner of Sherman, Joseph (Bonnie) Irish of Shelbyville, James (Jane) Irish of Middletown and Marianne Larson of Springfield; two step sons: Steve (Linda) Voelker of Dixon and Alan (Debra) Voelker of Lake Fork; two sisters: Phyllis (Bob) Clemens of Springfield and Nancy Gibbs of Petersburg, nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Irish IV, and one sister, Bonnie Smith.

Louise was a member of Elkhart Christian Church. She was employed at Glenn-Pontiac-Cadillac in Lincoln, and later at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski. Louise was president of the Scroggin-Gee VFW Ladies Auxiliary #777 of Mount Pulaski. She farmed for many years while raising her family. Louise had fun tractor pulling. John and Louise traveled the U.S. driving a truck. Louise and Vern enjoyed square dancing, antiquing, traveling and VFW activities. She enjoyed her family. Her family and friends were the lucky recipients of her paintings, hand-made cards and knitted items. Her angel food cakes were legendary.

Services for Louise will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Robert Twist officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service also at the funeral home. Burial at Elkhart Cemetery will follow the service.

Memorials may be made in Louise’s name to the Mount Pulaski American Legion Post # 447.
