The US Census response window was scheduled to end
early July; however, the date has been extended until October 31st
due to the pandemic. All five counties within CAPCIL’s service area
is currently 5-10% below the response rates of the 2010 Census. The
introduction of the first online survey hoped to yield higher
response rates but unfortunately that has not been the case. For
every person that is left uncounted, the state of Illinois loses
$1,400 per year or a total of $14,000 until the next census count.
The decreased state funding can affect schools, healthcare
facilities, senior services, infrastructure updates, social
services, SNAP and several others.
The 2020 survey is simplified, easy to complete and takes less than
ten minutes. The online survey can be found at my2020census.gov.
For those that are unable to complete their survey
online or have not received a paper questionnaire, the survey can
also be completed by calling 1-844-330-2020. CAPCIL is also
available to provide survey assistance in person or over the phone.
