On
Monday evening, Lincoln aldermen tabled a motion for the purchase of
property at 201 Ninth Street in Lincoln. City attorney John Hoblit
said that the title search work is not yet completed. Acting Mayor
Tracy Welch asked that the aldermen table the motion until the next
voting session on July 20th.
The property owner passed away in 2013, and since that time, no one
has claimed the property. On February 12th, a fire destroyed the
house, and the city had to bear the expense of demolition and
cleanup after the fire. According to Welch, the plan is to purchase
the property and then put it up for sale, to recover the costs
incurred.
