MASON CITY - The Arlee Theater in
Mason City plans to reopen Friday, July 10, with
a 4k, 40th anniversary edition of “The Empire
Strikes Back” showing through July 13. Shows are
at 7 p.m. nightly, 2 and 7 p.m. on Sunday. |
The theater closed March 17 due
to COVID-19 but then offered Friday curbside
concessions for home movie nights. With the
reopening of the Arlee, that means curbside
concessions have ended.
“We really appreciate all the loyal followers
who ordered out from the Arlee,” said Gaye
Maxson of the Arlee. “They have helped us stay
afloat financially during this difficult time.”
A few things will be different when the Arlee
reopens.
“We are taking precautions to provide a safe
experience for our guests, and we ask a few
things of them as well,” Maxson said.
“Primarily, we ask that they make sure they are
healthy when they come.”
All movie-goers must wear masks except when
seated in the auditorium.
Social distancing is requested when entering,
getting concessions and choosing seating, but
groups arriving together may sit together. To
avoid congestion in the lobby, it is suggested
that groups have one or two people order snacks
for the group, allowing the rest to proceed to
their seats.

Only 50 tickets will be sold per movie, which is only 14% capacity of the
auditorium. Guests may purchase advance tickets online at
www.arlee
theater.com or arrive early to
be assured a ticket. Doors open 30 minutes before each movie.
The theater will be disinfected between shows and servers will wear gloves and
masks.
“Since our plans are subject to changes beyond our control, please check at the
Arlee at 217-482-9999, our website, or Facebook page to confirm our schedule,”
Maxson said. “We have missed all our Arlee friends and look forward to seeing
them again and providing a comfortable and enjoyable family outing.”
