A total of 135 players registered (144 spots
were available) for the LPGA Drive On Championship at Inverness
Club from July 31-Aug. 2. The new event features a $1 million
purse.
It is the tour's first event since the ISPS Handa Women's
Australian Open ended on Feb. 16, when the season was placed on
hold after four events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A large number of international players are choosing to skip the
back-to-back events in the Toledo area. The Aug. 6-9 Marathon
LPGA Classic will take place at Highland Meadows Golf Club in
Sylvania, Ohio.
World No. 1 Jin Young Ko, No. 3 Sung Hyun Park, No. 5 Nasa
Hataoka, No. 6 Sei Young Kim, No. 7 Brooke Henderson and No. 10
Hyo-Joo Kim are all missing from the Drive On field.
The field does include 20 players from the top 50 of the Rolex
Rankings. Fifteen rookies are also entered.
