Application process underway for Kiwanis 2020 scholarship

[July 23, 2020]    In 2018, the Lincoln Kiwanis Club had a desire to offer a scholarship for a local student attending a local college. The funds for the scholarship are generated through the clubs Annual Golf Outing. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 outing was cancelled.

However, many local businesses and organizations made donations to continue the $1,000 scholarship.  

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship a student must be enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, or Certificate program at one of colleges located in Lincoln, Illinois. Colleges would include Lincoln College, Heartland Community College and/or Lincoln Christian University. The student must also be a resident of Lincoln. Scholarship funds would be used for tuition, fees, books and other school related costs.  

Application requirements include a personal essay, list of extra-curricular activities, proof of G.P.A and a letter recommendation. All applications must be submitted no later than August 14, 2020. The application can be picked up at any of the local college locations, requested by emailing [e-mail] or by calling 217-732-2159.
