Summer Food Program returns to Lincoln starting Monday
Free lunches to all youth under the age of 18
Adult meals available at a minimal cost

 

[May 31, 2020]   Starting Monday, June 1st and running through Friday July 3rd, the Summer Food Program will offer meals to all youth under the age of 18 free of charge. Adults may also receive meals at a cost of $2.00.

The program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture is conducted through a partnership with local schools. The goal is to offer all youth, regardless of financial status, an alternative to the school lunch program when school is not in session.

The difference this year from past years is that there will be no on-site meal service and no youth activities before or after lunch. All meals will be prepared and may be picked up by youth or parents.

Meals will be prepared at the Central School and delivered to two additional distribution sites, Washington-Monroe School and Northwest Elementary. 

Meals will only be distributed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On each of those days, two meals would be available - a hot meal for immediate consumption and a cold meal for the following day.

The program is being manned by volunteers, including cook staff from the schools and others who are interested in serving the community.

There is no enrollment required for this program.
