The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has
chosen the Heartland campus in Normal to hold the annual Scholastic
Bowl State Finals beginning in March of 2021. The tournament will
remain at Heartland through at least the spring of 2023.
The Scholastic Bowl State Finals join the IHSA Journalism State
Finals Competition which is also scheduled to be held at Heartland
next spring.
“We are thrilled to be chosen as the host site for the IHSA
Scholastic Bowl Finals beginning in 2021,” said Kelli Tillery Hill,
Heartland Vice President of External Relations. “The IHSA staff have
been wonderful to work with in the past, and we are excited to share
our great facilities with students who have a strong focus on
learning. The economic benefit that visitors from across the state
bring to our community is an added bonus.”
The Scholastic Bowl State Finals are expected to
bring a group of 500-plus competitors, coaches and parents to the
area for the daylong competition, which had been held in Peoria
since 1997.

“We are excited to continue developing our partnership with
Heartland Community College,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Kraig
Garber. “I am confident that the IHSA scholastic bowl community will find the
Heartland facilities both accommodating and fitting for this wonderful IHSA
State Final event. The Peoria Civic Center and community did an outstanding job
during their 23 years of hosting this event, and I am certain that Heartland
will host this event with as much eagerness and pride as our friends in Peoria.
We would like to thank Heartland Community College for their interest in hosting
IHSA events, and we are looking forward to working together for the benefit of
the student participants across our great state.”
