The Middletown Flag was hand sewn by the ladies of
Middletown in 1860 in anticipation of Abraham Lincoln's August 8th
campaign rally in Springfield. Originally intended to decorate the
Middletown parade float, the flag later found itself draped around
Lincoln's carriage as he rode to the fairgrounds to make a speech.
Afterwards the flag had several owners before finding its home at
the Lincoln Heritage Museum. Now the LHM needs your help to restore the historic
flag back to its former glory.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the LHM up until March 7.
Kids eat free! NOTE: Tickets purchased at the door do
NOT count toward the Museum’s fundraising. Please purchase your tickets at the
LHM in advance!
