On
Tuesday evening, Abigail O'Brien of the Lincoln Park District visited
the Lincoln City Council. She offered up a slideshow presentation of
ideas that could be implemented in city parks if the city agrees to
turn the ownership of the park properties over to the park district.
O'Brien was careful to add that the slides represented only ideas
and not actual plans to be implemented. For the park district to
move forward on any of their ideas, O'Brien said the property would
have to be transferred, and grant applications for funding
improvements would have to be awarded. In addition, she said that a
current survey is being conducted to help the park board prioritize
the needs and desires of the community.
Among her slides, O'Brien showed an example of an ADA accessible
playground for children with disabilities.
