[March 12, 2020]    Following a rousing opening to Sectional play on Wednesday evening when the Lincoln Railers defeated MacArthur 60-41, the Railers were sharpened and eager to address Springfield Lanphier for the Sectional finals. The game was set for 7 p.m. on Friday night at Roy S. Anderson.

Earlier on Thursday IHSA said that in the prevention of the spread of Covid-17, it would curtail attendance limiting 60 tickets per team. During the day numerous other sport entities from college to national leagues announced cancellations of their seasons or championships.

Late Thursday afternoon IHSA moved to cancel all winter state tournaments.

Without losing, Railers dreams of State are over. This team and the others on the state track, whose dreams have been abruptly dashed without the opportunity prove themselves, now stand as winners for the health of our citizenship.
