Scholastic Bowl Wins First Regional Title

Hartsburg-Emden won the Regional Championship game for IHSA
Scholastic Bowl at Prairie City- Bushnell on Monday.
This is the first regional title in school history and also, the
highest award that will be given in Illinois this year, due to the
IHSA cancelling the rest of the winter post-season.
The team also won the Tomahawk Conference title this year, for only
the second time in school history.
Hartem played Cuba in the first round of the regional. The final
score was 600-50. Leading scorers were Evan Rohlfs with 10 toss-ups,
Spencer Davis (captain) with 8, and Denver Merz with 2. In the
second round, Hartem beat Havana, 310-250. Davis had 9 toss-ups and
Rohlfs had 3.

In the championship round, Hartem played VIT. The final score was
280-140. Davis had 5 toss-ups, Rohlfs had 3, and Olivia Garcia had
1. Sami Pershall contributed in all matches on bonus questions. The
team ends the season with a record of 24-5.
Hartem is coached by Nichole Folkman, assisted by Joe Garcia. The
junior varsity team includes Grace Doolin (captain), Emmary Matson,
Faith Sanders, and William Wisniewski.
