Candidate for coroner Chris Sprague position statement

[March 16, 2020]  My name is Chris Sprague, Chief Deputy Coroner for Logan County. While my training, education and experience make me the most qualified candidate, it is my heart for Logan County and my passion for diligently serving our citizens with integrity makes me the best candidate for Logan County Coroner.

Since 2014, when I was hired as a Deputy Coroner into 2015 when Coroner Bob Thomas appointed me to Chief Deputy, I have served the county by performing my job with an ever-present commitment to excellence. I have worked tirelessly to fulfill both local and state government guidelines, while focusing on creating and maintaining efficient and effective processes for the operations of the County Coroner’s office. As a citizen and taxpayer myself, I am committed to sustaining an office that offers financial transparency and openness, while demanding productivity and quality of service from our team. I am also committed to continuous improvement and ensuring that our office is well-positioned to step into the future of Logan County.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• State of Illinois Coroner’s Certification

• Graduation from Illinois Police Academy

• Former Sheriff’s Deputy

• EMS Training and Certification

• Serving as Deputy and Chief Deputy Coroner (6 yrs)

• Specialized Continuing Ed Classes- Death Investigation

• Positive existing relationships with key stakeholders necessary to fulfill the role of County Coroner: assistance for both city and county law enforcement in death investigations, impartial connections to all area funeral directors, positive interactions with necessary hospital staff, and a strong, established team relationship with all members of the current Coroner’s office.
