A few months ago, Cori was asked what she
wanted for her approaching birthday. “A party with the Kona-Ice
truck,” was her reply. So the plan became to invite a few friends
for pizza and Kona-Ice. Then the corona virus changed everything. |
We began trying to figure out how to do something
special for Cori. One thing was certain….she still wanted the
Kona-Ice truck!
Cori then hatched a big plan. She wanted the Kona-Ice truck to park
in our driveway while a birthday parade of cars came by and ordered
Tiger’s Blood and Blue Raspberry sno-cones. Facebook invites were
sent out.
The birthday parade took place on Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Elkhart.
Part of Cori’s plan was to “break the record” of cars known to have
passed by a birthday. Cori thought that the record probably belonged
to Teena Lowery’s 60-vehicle parade.
Anticipation mounted with a countdown on Cori’s bulletin board. The
day finally arrived. 105 vehicles!!!
So many Kona-Ice orders that ice blades were broken and machines
froze up. Cori’s big idea became a reality. When asked what she
would do next year for her Sweet 16th, she smiled and replied,
“Kona-Ice!” [to top of second
column] |
Thank you to everyone that helped make the big
Kona-Ice Parade happen: family, friends, and neighbors. Your support
for Cori is tremendous. She loves all of you.
