Racing will be held at Pocono Raceway this
season, but fans won't be admitted, track officials announced
Friday.
Four NASCAR races are tentatively slated for June 27-28 at the
2.5-mile racetrack in Long Pond, Pa., and officials said they
will comply with the state's regulations under the coronavirus
pandemic, which call for no spectators at sporting events.
"Following the guidance on sporting events in Pennsylvania
issued by Governor Tom Wolf this week, the 2020 NASCAR events at
Pocono Raceway will be held without fans in attendance," Pocono
Raceway officials said in a statement. "Current ticket holders
can request a refund or account credit by visiting our website.
"We appreciate our fans' patience, as well as the collaborative
efforts from Governor Wolf's administration and NASCAR, during
these unique times. More details will be made available at a
later date."
NASCAR has yet to declare whether the Pocono dates will remain
as scheduled.
"The exact dates of our 2020 races (are) being finalized and
will be announced by NASCAR at a later date," the track said in
its press release.
The Pocono Organics 325 is currently slated for June 27 with the
Pocono 350 due to follow one day later.
The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series also is slated for
a 150-mile event on June 27, while the NASCAR Xfinity Series is
scheduled for a 225-mile race prior to the Pocono 350.
