Tiffany Joh advanced to the championship match
of the LPGA eTour Live virtual tournament with a convincing 4-up
victory over Jane Park on Friday.
Joh will square off in the final on Wednesday against Jessica
Korda, who punched her ticket with a 1-up victory over Angel Yin
earlier in the week.
As for Joh and Park, the two best friends enjoyed back-and-forth
banter before the competition started.
"Jane, if you make anything higher than a bogey, then I get to
name your child," said Joh, who was one of the few people who
knew that Park was pregnant prior to the latter's announcement
last week.
Park was quick with a response.
"And if I don't, you have to change a diaper anytime I say," she
said.
Joh didn't have much difficulty dispatching her friend, however.
Joh benefited from a strong shot off the opening tee, eventually
leading to Park conceding the first hole.
The second hole saw the same end result, as Park conceded the
hole after a putt rimmed out.
Joh ended the match in 20 minutes, sinking a birdie on the sixth
hole.
The event is keeping LPGA players and fans engaged during the
tour's shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The matches are streaming live on the WGT Twitch, YouTube and
Facebook accounts, LPGA's Twitter, Facebook, YouTube accounts
and LPGA.com, and Discovery's GOLFTV Twitter and Facebook
accounts, and is available via video on demand on Golf Channel's
YouTube account and GolfChannel.com.
