[November 03, 2020]  LINCOLN - Gladys I. Edwards, 96, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Service:  A graveside service for Gladys will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln

Obituary

Gladys I. Edwards, 96, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.

Gladys was born on August 18, 1924 in Agassiz, British Columbia the daughter of Charles Victor and Catherine Cecelia (Foley) Anderson. She married Joseph “Joe” L. Edwards on May 12, 1947, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2012, just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary.

Gladys is survived by her son: Mike (Diane) Edwards of Lincoln; a daughter: Sheila (Tom) Harmon of Peoria, AZ; one sister: Eva Lorenzi of Springfield, sister-in-law Bonnie Welch of Lincoln; three grandchildren: Brett (Brittney) Edwards of Lincoln, Megan (Steven) Jenness of Lincoln, and Michael Harmon of Peoria, AZ; seven great-grandchildren: Abby, Brooklynn, Grant, Drake, Griffin, Dreyton, and Vada.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six siblings, and one granddaughter: Erin.

Gladys proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist Mate.

A graveside service for Gladys will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post # 263.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gladys’ name to Carroll Catholic School.

Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
