It was a very windy day in Charleston on October 13, 2020 when the Lincoln Community High School Railers Cross Country teams participated in the Apollo Conference Championships.

"We set up camp, and as soon as the students were out of shouting distance, the wind blew over our tent," said Coach Andrew Hite. "I had to stand there for a while and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I started doing it myself, a couple of my runners returned to help me. This was not a day to forget your stakes."

Despite the wind, both the boys and girls teams finished well. The boys finished third out of eight teams and the girls finished fourth out of eight teams.

Brenden Heitzig made All-Conference with a sixth place finish and a time of 16:29.2. Garrett Slack finished in 11th place with a time of 17:13.6.

Becca Heitzig finished first for the girls with a time of 18:44.8. Reese McCuan finished seventh with a time of 20:08.6.

"It was nice having two girls in the top ten," said Hite.

Both Heitzig and McCuan made the Apollo All-Conference team for the girls.

The results can be found here for boys and here for girls.
