The Lincoln Railers Cross Country teams hosted Beardstown for a dual meet at Kickapoo Creek Park on October 15, 2020. "The weather was fantastic," said Coach Andrew Hite. "There was a little bit of sun by the time the girls started running at 4:00 p.m. but the chill in the air remained."

"Beardstown ran seven girls against Lincoln's five," said Hite. "Becca Heitzig recorded her best finish of the season with a run of 18:03 and was followed by Reese McCuan, Hattie Mourning, and Caroline Ahrends in the top four to easily give the Lady Railers the win. McCuan and Ahrends recorded their best times of the season as well."

"Brenden Heitzig led the entire race and finished first as Lincoln took the top seven spots," noted Hite. "Six runners finished in under 18 minutes. Five of the Railers recorded their season best times, including Ian Stauffer, Drew Bowman, Dylan Gowin, Carson Franz, and Austin Erb."

The Railers seem to really like running at Kickapoo Park.

"Our boys and girls do a really good job on this course," said Hite. "As I've said before, this is a little bit longer than 3 miles, and many of them are recording better times than they did at Jacksonville, which is 2.9 miles."

"We were happy with our results at the Apollo Conference Meet, we have done well at home, and on the 20th we will return to Manito, where we did well a couple weeks ago. After that we only have regionals on the 24th. We are excited to try to advance to Sectionals."
