Obituary

Margaret A. “Midge” McReynolds, 76, of Chestnut, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

Midge was born on June 15, 1944 in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of William Edward and Elizabeth Ruth (Lytle) Murdock. She married Rex McReynolds on April 4, 2003 in Paducah, KY. He survives in Chestnut.

Midge is also survived by her sons, Ed (Laura) Lock and Shawn (Melissa) Lock; her step-daughters, Stephanie Smith and Lisa (Gordon) Stewart; her grandchildren, Kyle, Breanna, Makenzie, and Sydney; and her step-grandchildren, Che, Kalin, Avaleena, Drayden, and Declan; and her great-grandchild, Abel.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents; and her step-son, Brian McReynolds.

Midge played the organ at The Methodist Church in Chestnut for 30 years. She also valued education, obtaining her master’s degree in counseling. With her degree, she gained memberships with NAADAC (National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors) and IAODAPCA (Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association).

Midge was very creative, artistic, and loved turning nothing into something with her crafting skills. She had a love of music as a whole and particularly enjoyed The Grateful Dead. Midge also found joy while riding with Rex on his motorcycle in Kentucky, Texas, and New Mexico. But above all else, Midge loved her family; including her extended family in the Southwest.

A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to an organization that Midge truly believed in: Against All Odds Animal ResQ at 6900 NE Smith Dr. Hamilton, MO, 64644.
