Online systems temporarily shut down

On Monday, October 5, Heartland Community College became aware that
some of our computer systems were compromised by an outside source.
In an effort to investigate and contain this breach, online
operations and classes on Monday, October 5, 2020 were disrupted.
Systems will remain down on Tuesday, October 6 as work continues.
The College is not aware of any student or personnel data
compromised by this action. Even so, anyone concerned about their
personal information security should deal with the matter as they
deem appropriate.

College IT staff and outside consultants are conducting a thorough investigation
of the nature and extent of the breach. We will be taking all necessary steps to
minimize any risk and prevent any future disruptions to our service.
Normal online operations will resume as quickly as possible. Students are asked
to work with instructors regarding any missed class time or assignments once
operations resume.
The College will provide updated information as it is available.
