Youth can learn to design creative mini gardens during virtual workshop

 

[October 07, 2020]   Designing a miniature garden can be a creative way to express yourself. Whether you like sports, stories, camping, sewing, music, or some other hobby, you can incorporate those interests into the design of your own miniature garden.

Youth of all ages are invited to participate in the 4-H Miniature Garden Workshop, Saturday, October 17 at 2:30 p.m., that will provide participants with inspiration, theme ideas, and lessons on how to use everyday items around the house to create a miniature garden! University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and 4-H volunteer May Bach will teach everyone all about how to design an amazing miniature garden.

May has been an Extension Master Volunteer for 10 years and has led the 4-H Great Learning Garden club for the past 3 years. She not only has a green thumb, she has a gift of inspiring and engaging with youth. This virtual workshop will be interactive and fun.

Participants will spend time brainstorming themes with other workshop members and watch May as she creates miniature garden pieces from everyday household items. Everyone will leave this workshop inspired to design their own themed miniature garden.

This session is free and open to the public. However, advanced registration is required by October 16. The session will be held on the Zoom video conferencing platform.
