Whiteman supports the work of the ALMH Community Health
Collaborative that works with community partners to take the focus
on health outside the walls of the hospital. Many area students are
familiar with her work promoting healthy eating and active
lifestyles through the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH)
program which encourages a heathy school environment.
To better serve patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, Whiteman is
often seen in the lobby of the hospital ensuring the safety of
patients and visitors through health screenings. Her flexibility to
meet the needs of the hospital and provide a great patient
experience was the reason for her nomination.
“I find that everyone at ALMH does their best to take care of each
patient and visitor that walks through the door,” said Whiteman.
“And when I work in the community, it is meaningful to me that I am
part of an organization that identifies community health needs and
develops solutions and initiatives to address them. The teamwork at
both ALMH and in the community makes me very proud.“
