Emily Lund named September winner of Graue Amazing Teacher Award

 

[October 14, 2020]  LINCOLN - On Thursday afternoon Carroll Catholic Kindergarten teacher Emily Lund had a big surprise awaiting her at the end of the day. Emily knew something was up when she was asked to come outside with Principal David Welch, but she had no idea that she was to be the September winner of the Amazing Teacher Award by Graue Chevrolet in Lincoln.

As she exited the front of the building, Chris Graue was waiting for Lund, and told her that she had been nominated and won the September award which included a $100 gift to use immediately and a chance to win a 2016 GM Certified Chevrolet Cruze.

Lund was thrilled to be the September winner and deeply moved by the kind words that had been written about her by the seven people who nominated her.

Graue explained that in September 53 people had nominated their favorite teachers for the award. Of those 53, seven nominations were for Lund.

Graue said he wanted to read aloud the opening comments from each of the nominations.

“Ms. Lund is absolutely amazing.”

“She has been an absolute miracle for our daughter.”

“She is a wonderful kindergarten teacher.”

“She is amazing with kids, so caring and thoughtful.”

“Emily is the most loving and caring teacher, person and friend.”

“Ms. Lund gives it her all.”

Graue paused for a second then said, “And this is my favorite.” He then read the final opening line from the nominations “Because I know that she loves me.” 

Due to covid and social distancing, the award ceremony was being recorded on Facebook live so that folks could watch.

Graue read the following statement for the video:

“We are pleased to name Emily Lund as the September winner of the Graue Chevrolet Buick Cadillac Amazing Teacher Award and present you with a $100 gift card that you can use in your classroom or for your own personal use. And, you’ll be entered to win this 2016 GM Certified Pre-owned Chevrolet Cruze to be drawn December 12th at a special reception to be held at Graue Inc.

“Please join us in saluting and congratulating Emily Lund as the September Graue Chevrolet Buick Cadillac Amazing Teacher!”

Lund was amazed and excited about winning the award, as was her co-worker Jennifer Craig, who noted that if anyone could use a new car it would be Lund. She noted that Lunds’ current vehicle makes a lot of noise and just doesn’t sound healthy.

Lund agreed that she could use the vehicle as she has reached the point of having to put money into her current car to keep it on the road.

Asked about her gift card and what she would do with that, Lund said that she anticipated that she would use it to buy some things for her classroom.

Congratulations to Emily Lund as the September award winner.

The nominations are now open for October and Graue is hopeful that there will be another good turnout of nominations. Monthly awards will be presented for the months of October and November.

On December 12th, all the winners of the monthly awards will be invited to a special reception at the Graue dealership in Lincoln. Those present will have the opportunity to win the Chevrolet Cruze.
