Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: Matthew 16:26
asks, “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet
forfeit their soul?” Our nation’s soul is at risk.
Money above country? How badly did your 401K fare under President
Obama who inherited the most damaged economy since the Great
Depression? President Clinton who actually balanced the budget?
Party above country? What policies other than tax cuts for the
wealthy and free reign for large corporations have been implemented?
Assistance for working people and small businesses during a bungled
pandemic response other than one and done?
The current president has done nothing to unify the country. He
can’t force himself to disavow the Grand Wizard of the KKK and
actually encouraged white supremacy groups to stand by. If he
misspoke he has the biggest microphone in the world. He can correct
it in a New York minute.
[to top of second column in this letter] |
He creates havoc and then claims to fix the problem
he created. He took credit for taking care of farmers with a
socialist support check made necessary by his unilaterally imposed
tariffs. He has no concept of the consequences of his actions. How
many mistakes and how many deaths are acceptable? Closing the border
to China was a correct action. What did he do after that? One and
done may satisfy him. It doesn’t actually solve complicated
problems.
We need someone who can walk and chew gum. Someone who will actually
listen to experts. Someone who wants to reach out—someone whose
bipartisanship is legendary. We have a lot of difficult issues to
address.
If it was your business, who would you hire?
