[October 29, 2020]  LINCOLN - Harry D. “Bear” Edwards, 79, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Christian Village, Lincoln.

Visitation:  11:30 am- 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  A private family service will be held.

Obituary

Harry D. “Bear” Edwards, 79, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Christian Village, Lincoln.

Bear was born on August 23, 1941 in Middletown, the son of Eugene Hall and Rachel Elizabeth (Zook) Edwards. He married Margaret Van Fossan on July 30, 1960. She survives him.

Also surviving Bear are his children: Troy (Becki Warren) Edwards of Atlanta and Heidi (J.C. Rice) Van Cleve of New Berlin, sister’s Carolyn Elizabeth (Gary) Schall and Marilyn Louise Jackson; grandchildren Joshua (Kelsi) Edwards, Dylan Van Cleve, Sarah (Matthew) Curry, and Heather (Joshua) Mangano and greatgrandchildren Brooklyn, Declan, Claire, and Benjamin.

Bear was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Mary Catherine Bland, brother: James “Chub” Edwards.

Bear farmed and worked for the United States Postal Service for many years of his life upon his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 263 and the Lincoln Christian Church. Bear enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

A private family service will be held. Visitation for Bear will be from 11:30 am- 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, where face mask and social distancing will be enacted.

Memorials may be made in Bear’s name to the American Cancer Society or Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
