CAPCIL received a total of $10,000 to be used in
the expansion of their Food Pantry Co-ops in Mason and Menard
counties. The pantries will provide basic necessities, helping to
diminish food insecurity for families in the areas and also build
skill sets of individuals who are encouraged to volunteer at the
pantry. They should be open soon in Petersburg and Havana.
“We are happy to partner with CoBank again this year to lend
assistance to local organizations serving our members and their
communities in a variety of ways, including this donation to expand
much needed food pantries” says Anker.
Menard Electric is a member of CoBank, a cooperative lending
facility, who as part of the Sharing Success program matched this
year’s donations from Menard Electric Cooperative to charitable
organizations chosen by the co-op’s Board of Directors.
One-half of the donation reflects a gift from the
cooperative while the other half was matching funds from CoBank.
