Controversial issues:
As a

matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get

and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: Election
judges are true heroes of every election. They are the people who
guarantee that our election process is legally correct, fair,
accessible and friendly with votes counted correctly and without
unnecessary delay. Election judges make sure that the people wishing
to vote are treated with dignity and respect. They work with our
county clerk and her staff to make a visit to the polls a pleasant
experience.
Election judges work hours training and preparing for each election.
On election day, while the rest of us are still in our beds,
election judges arrive at their assigned stations well in advance of
the polls' scheduled opening time. They work all day and into the
evening ensuring that each voter is correctly identified, registered
and allowed to vote. They stay late to make sure that every vote is
counted correctly and that results are tabulated properly.

Election judges are dedicated to doing their job correctly. The
election judges as well as the county clerk officials who train the
judges and supervise each election deserve our respect and our
profound thanks. When it comes to maintaining our democracy, our
election judges are key players who perform their duties out of
patriotism with only token compensation.
I am impressed to see that ordinary people, Republicans and
Democrats alike, care deeply about guaranteeing our right to vote in
a dignified manner without difficulty or intimidation. We owe our
thanks to all of our county's election judges who do such a
wonderful job for us on Election Day. Thanks, judges!
