LINCOLN
- Over the Labor Day weekend, Kim Carlock, representing the Atlanta
Ag 4-H Group visited with local members of HOOAH, Inc. the
organization works toward making difficult things easier for
disabled veterans, such as outdoor sporting events.

The group hosts the annual HOOAH Fishing Day and
HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes.
Carlock presented the Jared Poppe and John Masters with a check from
the Atlanta Ag 4-H.

While visiting with the two, she learned some about what HOOAH does
to assist our local veterans, both in and out of active duty.

HOOAH uses 100 percent its revenue to support veterans and their
families. They are made up of all volunteers, many of whom are also
veterans. A portion of the HOOAH mission is to provide outdoor
activities and other social events to wounded veterans, which
enables them to rehabilitate both mentally and physically.

"As I visited with Jared, John and others engaged with this great
mission; it touched me so deeply the good they do for the wounded
veteran’s and the uplifting impact they make on a veteran’s life and
the lives of their families," said Carlock.

Carlock talked with the two about the Deer Hunt for Heroes in
particular. She was shown two of the group's track-chairs, used to help
transport hunters into the wooded areas for the hunting event.
From the HOOAH, Inc. website: HOOAH, Inc.'s mission is to lend support to
forward-deployed servicemen and women, their stateside families, and returning
veterans with a high level of understanding, compassion, and empathy. We operate
with 100% volunteers. We do not pay any staff or members of our organization.
