[September 28, 2020]  LINCOLN - A new school year means Olympia FFA held their annual Kick-Off Night! On September 9, the FFA chapter began the new year with two separate meetings. One meeting was for parents of FFA members, and the other was for members of the chapter.

The Kick-Off Night meeting looked different this year because of COVID restrictions, but Mr. Hoffman and his officer team did not let that stop them from having a successful Kick-Off Night.

The 2020-2021 Olympia Officer Team is:

Tyler Miller: President
Chloe Scroggins: Vice President
Kailey Little: Vice President
Adam Swartzendruber: Vice President
Ethan Davis: Sentinel
Noah Reber: Treasurer
Kari Simpson: Secretary
Brooke Rogers: Historian
and Tarah Hilt: Reporter.

The officer team led a meeting with the members of the Olympia FFA Chapter where they introduced themselves, went over agenda items, and led an activity.

Agenda items include new and old business conducted. CDE’s are a common topic of discussion for new business. Most CDE events are virtual this year. Horse judging is the first virtual CDE to take place for the school year, and it will occur on October 17.

For the activity, the officer team took the members outside and had them use chalk to create a drawing about what agriculture means to them.

Lots of great drawings ranging from cows to cornfields were created by the members.

In the other meeting, Mr. Hoffman met with the parents of the chapter members to discuss how the school year might go with FFA events and what to expect as a member in the Olympia FFA Chapter.

Mr. Hoffman and the officer team are excited for the year ahead and are hopeful to do as many FFA events that normally occur as possible!
