World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, No.
2 Jon Rahm and No. 4 Rory McIlroy will play in both The CJ Cup @
Shadow Creek and the Zozo Championship @ Sherwood, two upcoming PGA
Tour events that have been moved from Asia to the Western United
States due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The CJ Cup, played the past three years at The Club @ Nine Bridges
on Jeju Island, just off the coast of South Korea, will be contested
Oct. 15-18 at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.
The following week, the Zozo Championship @ Sherwood will be held at
Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The first edition of
the event was played last year at Accordia Golf Narashino Country
Club in Inzai, Japan.
Johnson enters the two events in sizzling form. He finished
runner-up at the PGA Championship, won The Northern Trust, came in
second at the BMW Championship and then captured the season-long
FedEx Cup by winning the Tour Championship.
In his most recent outing, he tied for sixth place in the U.S. Open
at Winged Foot.
Johnson, a 36-year-old South Carolina native, said in a statement,
"My game has been really good recently, so I am excited to play both
tournaments. I was excited to hear that The CJ Cup will be played at
Shadow Creek, where I have played some good golf in the past with
family and friends. It's a really good golf course and should be a
great venue for the tournament.

"As a proud member at Sherwood Country Club, I am thrilled the club
will be hosting the Zozo Championship. I have played countless
rounds there and love the golf course, so I'm really looking forward
to the tournament."
Rahm came in fourth at the Tour Championship after winning the
Memorial and the BMW Championship this summer. The 25-year-old
Spaniard tied for 23rd in the U.S. Open.
McIlory, a 31-year-old from Northern Ireland, tied for eighth in
both the Tour Championship and the U.S. Open. They were his first
top-10 finishes since play restarted after a three-month shutdown
caused by the pandemic.
The field for The CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek also will include defending
champion Justin Thomas as well as Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and
three top English players -- Tommy Fleetwood, Ian Poulter and Justin
Rose.
Tiger Woods will defend his Zozo Championship title in a field that
also will feature Phil Mickelson, Fleetwood, Fowler, Rose, Spieth
and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama.
