NBA roundup: Donovan Mitchell injured in Jazz's comeback win

Donovan Mitchell scored 22
points before leaving with a sprained right ankle early in the third
quarter, and the Utah Jazz rallied in his absence to beat the
visiting Indiana Pacers 119-111 on Friday afternoon in Salt Lake
City.
Bojan Bogdanovic led the Jazz with 24 points, and Jordan Clarkson
returned from his four-game injury absence to help the comeback
efforts with 18 points. Rudy Gobert also contributed 13 points, 23
rebounds and four blocked shots as Utah won for the 13th time in 16
games.
Caris LeVert led Indiana with 24 points and Domantas Sabonis added
22 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists, but the Pacers only scored
42 points in the second half en route to their second loss in three
games.
Mitchell was due to undergo an MRI exam to determine the severity of
the injury. The Jazz also announced that Dwyane Wade had purchased
an ownership stake to join majority owner Ryan Smith.
Knicks 117, Mavericks 109
Julius Randle matched his season high of 44 points and also
contributed 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead New York to a
victory at Dallas.
RJ Barrett added 24 points and eight rebounds and Derrick Rose
scored 15 points for the Knicks. New York's Nerlens Noel collected
10 rebounds and blocked three shots.
Dallas' Kristaps Porzingis registered 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Luka Doncic scored 22 points, matched his career best of 19 assists
and grabbed eight rebounds for the Mavericks.
76ers 106, Clippers 103
Joel Embiid totaled 36 points and 14 rebounds as Philadelphia held
on to beat visiting Los Angeles with several regulars sitting out.
Furkan Korkmaz finished with 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from
3-point range to help Philadelphia earn its fourth straight victory.
Paul George paced the Clippers with 37 points, nine rebounds and six
assists, the fifth consecutive game with 30-plus points for the
reigning Western Conference Player of the Week.
Los Angeles played without Kawhi Leonard, who missed his fourth
consecutive game due to right foot soreness. Philadelphia played
without former Clipper Tobias Harris (right knee soreness), Seth
Curry (left hip flexor tightness) and Dwight Howard (left knee
soreness).
Nets 130, Hornets 115
Joe Harris scored 26 points and Kevin Durant poured in 25 points and
added 11 assists as Brooklyn defeated Charlotte in a matchup of
injury-riddled teams in New York.
Landry Shamet added 20 points off the Brooklyn bench. The outcome
means Brooklyn, which lost Wednesday night at Philadelphia, hasn't
dropped consecutive games since early February.
Miles Bridges poured in 33 points and Terry Rozier had 27 points and
10 assists for the Hornets, while rookie center Vernon Carey Jr.
scored 21 points.
Wizards 117, Pelicans 115 (OT)
Russell Westbrook made two free throws with one second left in
overtime to finish with 36 points as host Washington defeated New
Orleans.
Westbrook, who had 10 of the Wizards' 12 points in overtime and
assisted on the other basket, grabbed 15 rebounds and wound up one
assist short of what would have been his seventh consecutive
triple-double. Bradley Beal added 30 points despite missing all nine
of his 3-point attempts.
Brandon Ingram scored 34, Williamson had 21 and Naji Marshall had 16
points and 11 rebounds to lead the Pelicans.
Trail Blazers 107, Spurs 106
Norman Powell hit the game-winning shot with 22.8 seconds remaining
as short-handed Portland came from behind to beat host San Antonio.
CJ McCollum scored 29 points while Powell added 22 for Portland,
which had lost four of its previous five games. Blazers star Damian
Lillard sat out due to a right hamstring injury.
The Spurs led by 16 midway through the third quarter before Portland
rallied to tie the contest early in the fourth. DeMar DeRozan led
the Spurs with 26 points and added 10 assists. Dejounte Murray had
13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists (his third triple-double of
the season) for San Antonio, which has lost two straight games.

Nuggets 128, Rockets 99
Nikola Jokic posted his 50th double-double of the season while
Michael Porter Jr. scored 21 points as Denver rolled to a win at
Houston.
Jokic finished with 29 points and 16 rebounds while adding seven
assists and two steals to pace the Nuggets, victorious in both of
their games since guard Jamal Murray was lost to a season-ending
left ACL injury.
Kelly Olynyk scored 23 points while Jae'Sean Tate added 21 for the
Rockets, losers of five in a row and 10 of 11.
Grizzlies 126, Bulls 115
Dillon Brooks scored a season-high 32 points and visiting Memphis
handed Chicago its fifth consecutive loss.
Memphis rode a 37-point third quarter into the final period, when
runs of 9-0 and 7-0 helped the Grizzlies build a 20-point advantage.
Six Grizzlies scored in double figures. Jonas Valanciunas'
franchise-record double-double streak ended at 16 games as he
collected just seven rebounds Friday, but he shot 7 of 9 from the
floor for 16 points.
Coby White led the Bulls with 27 points in the loss. He shot 4-for-8
from 3-point range. Nikola Vucevic went 3-for-7 from beyond the arc
and recorded 24 points with a game-high 14 rebounds.
Timberwolves 119, Heat 111
After losing its past two home games by a combined 55 points,
Minnesota used a big fourth quarter to upset Miami in Minneapolis.
The Heat ended their four-game road trip with a third consecutive
loss. Minnesota has beaten Miami in its past five meetings and in
six of the previous seven.
Karl-Anthony Towns, who had missed the previous two home losses to
Brooklyn and Milwaukee due to personal reasons, had 24 points -- and
hit all four attempts from long distance. Miami was led by Jimmy
Butler, who came close to recording a triple-double with 30 points,
10 rebounds and eight assists.
Raptors 113, Magic 102
Paul Watson scored 20 of his career-best 30 points in the third
quarter in his first career start and Toronto defeated visiting
Orlando at Tampa. Watson was 8-for-11 from 3-point range as the
Raptors won their eighth straight game over the Magic dating to
April 1, 2019.
Yuta Watanabe also had a career-best with 21 points for the Raptors,
who have won two in a row. Fred VanVleet, who had missed six games
with a hip flexor injury and one more due to a suspension, returned
to score six points with six assists.
Wendell Carter Jr. had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Magic,
who have lost seven of eight. Cole Anthony added 19.
Pistons 110, Thunder 104
Josh Jackson had 29 points, Saddiq Bey and Frank Jackson tossed in
18 apiece, and host Detroit handed Oklahoma City its ninth
consecutive loss.
Isaiah Stewart powered for 15 points and 21 rebounds, a single-game
record for a Detroit rookie. Killian Hayes supplied nine points,
seven assists, five steals and four rebounds.
Luguentz Dort led the Thunder with 26 points. Darius Bazley had 19
points and seven rebounds, and Moses Brown added 12 points with
eight rebounds.
