Ameren Illinois is hosting two virtual open houses to inform and
collaborate with the public about a new energy investment for Logan
County, Illinois. The proposed Logan County Connector Project
consists of an approximately 6- to 10-mile transmission line and
substation upgrades designed to improve energy reliability for the
area.
The 138-kilovolt line and upgrades will connect the existing Limit
and Fogarty Substations. Currently, Lincoln and the surrounding area
are supported by two Ameren Illinois 138 kV transmission lines. The
Logan County Connector Project will improve local reliability by
creating an additional energy pathway and help prevent extended
restoration times in the event of a power outage. The proposed
in-service date for the project is December 2023.
The Logan County Connector Project team will host two virtual open
houses to present an overview of the project and give the public an
opportunity to provide input on the Route Alternatives. A
telephone public meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 21 at 6
p.m. and a virtual Webex meeting will take place on Thursday, April
22 at 12:00 p.m. Each meeting will include a brief presentation
on the project, a Q&A session and an explanation of how the public
can provide input.
“Gathering community feedback is an important part of our planning
process, but we want to be mindful of everyone’s safety during the
pandemic,” said Ajay Jayaprakash, Project Manager for Ameren
Illinois' Logan County Connector Project.

"We hope interested members of the public and landowners will join us during
these virtual meetings to learn more about the project and share their feedback,
so we can make sure we are taking into account any needs and concerns from the
community.”
Following the public outreach and route development process, Ameren Illinois
anticipates filing a petition in summer 2021 with the Illinois Commerce
Commission (ICC) seeking approval of the Logan County Connector Project and a
final recommended route.
Community members who wish to meet in-person with the Project team can also
set up an appointment via the project hotline or website for May 4th or May 5th
between the hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lincoln Banquet Center located at
201 Madigan Drive, Lincoln, Illinois. All in-person meeting participants will be
required to wear face coverings and follow all Illinois Department of Public
Health Phase 4 guidelines and local recommendations.
