Heartland Community College is launching the
“This is Our Shot” campaign encouraging students, employees, and the
general public to get vaccinated and stop the spread of COVID-19.

As the Fall 2021 semester is about to begin at
Heartland, the campus has a Standard of Care and Courtesy in place
which requires all individuals to adhere to practices such as
wearing a face covering and maintaining social distance while
indoors at HCC facilities. Heartland is also offering free,
non-invasive SHIELD testing for COVID-19 on the campus.
“Our ‘This is Our Shot’ campaign encourages individuals who are
eligible to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” said
Heartland Community College Dean of Health Sciences Jennifer
O’Connor. “The vaccines that are currently available throughout HCC
District 540 have proven to be very effective in protecting against
serious illness and hospitalization caused by this the virus and
emerging strains. CDC data is showing that the Delta variant of
COVID is spreading rapidly in areas where a large number of the
population is unvaccinated. To keep our campus community healthy,
and prevent other mitigation measures from being reinstated,
everyone should get vaccinated if they are eligible.”
Heartland will hold vaccination clinics during the HCC Fall Festival on August 24 and 25 for the “single shot” Johnson
& Johnson vaccine. The clinics will run from 10:00am-3:00pm on the
main Heartland campus in Normal (1500 W Raab Rd.). The clinic is
open to students, employees, and the general public. Anyone can sign
up for an appointment here:

Students who are vaccinated at the clinics or who show a vaccination
card can be entered into a drawing to pay for textbooks. The
Heartland Foundation will award 10 random students entered into the
drawing with $250 in bookstore credit, each.
The vaccination clinic is open for Heartland students, employees and
the general public. Only currently enrolled students are eligible
for the textbook credit drawing.
