Obituary
Darrell “Lee” Benner Jr, 75, passed
away at 10:50 p.m. on August 13, 2021 after a
lengthy illness.
Lee was born on November 6, 1945 in Lincoln, son of
Darrell and Ruth “Finny” (Awe) Benner Sr. He married
Sarah Brucker on October 2, 1993 in Lincoln, IL. She
survives him.
Also surviving Lee are his two daughters: Allison
(Austin) Brummett of Lincoln, and Kathryn Benner of
Broadwell; one sister: Audrey Roman of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister: Cheryl.
Lee worked for IDOT as a Highway Maintainer. He
Proudly served his country in the United States Army
from 1968-1970. |
A private family graveside will be
held.
Memorials may be made in Lee’s name to the Land of
Lincoln Honor Flight.
Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
