Obituary
Lea June McEntire, 95, of Lincoln,
passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Memorial
Medical Center, surrounding by her loving family.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until 12 Noon
Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow
at 12 Noon with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial
will be Monday, December 6, 2021 at 2 PM at Camp
Butler National Cemetery.
Lea was born January 11, 1926 in Lincoln, IL., the
daughter of John Helton and June (Compton) Helton.
She married Paul "Bud" McEntire on February 2, 1946.
He preceded her in death on April 3, 2009.
She proudly served her country in the United States
Navy. She was stationed at the Naval Base in
Bethesda, Maryland where she was a clerical worker.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church. Lea
was formerly employed at Lehn and Fink, Sterling
Drugs, and Montgomery Ward. She enjoyed reading,
working puzzles, and spending time with her family.
She enjoyed playing Uno, Skipbo, and Dice with her
great granddaughters. Her grandchildren and great
grandchildren were the light of her life. She never
missed an opportunity to support them at any of
their activities. |
Survivors include her children: Ron (Terri) McEntire of Lincoln,
IL., Susan (Donald) DeJaynes also of Lincoln, IL.; and Allen (Linda) McEntire of
Sebring, FL.; grandson Shawn (Kristen) Fitzpatrick; granddaughter Carie (Perry)
Groves; granddaughter in law Melanie McEntire, grandson Johnny McEntire; great
grandchildren: Justin, Alex, and Emma Fitzpatrick; Alexis and Isabella Groves;
Halie and Siera McEntire; sisters Judy Kidd of Texas and Mary Reynolds of
Arizona ; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson David McEntire, and
sister Betty Patt.
Memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post 1756 in Lincoln or to the Harvest
of Talents through Lincoln Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral
home.
