Lincoln girls basketball is back at Roy
S. Anderson Gymnasium and they brought the fans with them. Lincoln
hosted Pleasant Plains on Wednesday night in front of an energetic
crowd and both the JV and Varsity picked up wins.
The JV started the evening by crushing the Cardinals 51-19.
The Varsity overcame a third quarter scare by the Cardinals and came
out on top 45-31.
In the Varsity game, Lincoln led 16-6 after one quarter as Reese
McCuan poured in five points and Ryen Stoltzenburg hit two threes to
lead the Lady Railers.
Lincoln held a 24-16 advantage at the half.
The Cardinals came out on fire in the third quarter and used three
threes and some great defense to quiet the Lady Railers. Pleasant
Plains took a 27-26 lead with 3:32 showing on the third quarter
clock. Jenna Bowman got the lead back for Lincoln on a basket with
2:08 left in the quarter, 28-27 the score. A field goal by Becca
Heitzig put the Lady Railers in front 30-27 as the third quarter
ended.
Kloe Froebe hit two quick buckets in the paint to start the fourth
quarter action and Lincoln was in front 34-27. Another field goal
from Froebe put Lincoln up 36-29. Near the mid-way point of the
quarter, a free throw by Froebe stretched the lead to 37-29.
Stoltzenburg would score at the 2:48 mark on the the assist from
Heitzig and Lincoln was in front 39-31. Two free throws from Heitzig
with 2:12 remaining earned the Lady Railers a double-digit lead,
41-31 the score, as time was running out on the Cardinals. Bowman
sank two free throws at the 1:30 mark and Lincoln was extending that
lead, 43-31 the score. Stoltzenburg would complete the Lady Railers
scoring on the nice dish in the paint from Froebe and the final
score was set at 45-31.
The Lady Railers earned a nice win at home and once again, with
Froebe getting double and triple-teamed at times, the team adjusted
and played their hearts out.
Seven Lady Railers managed their way into the scoring column.

Stoltzenburg tossed in 13 points for the Lady Railers.
