Small Business Saturday creates abundant shopping to the heart of Lincoln

On Saturday, store owners around the Logan County Square in downtown Lincoln were cashing in on Small Business Saturday.

All around the square, stores were busy and shoppers were not just looking they were buying.

Eileen Mullins at Sir Renna Tea said that business on Saturday morning was great. She had plenty of customers and they were taking advantage of all the pretty and useful items Mullins has in her store. In addition, the Bubble Tea was selling and guests were enjoying a refreshing beverage as they shopped.

At Abe’s Carmelcorn, Helen Rainforth was smiling from ear to ear as she and all her staff were hustling to assist customers with their shopping selections as well as ringing up customer after customer.

The same was true at Small Town Creations. Owner Kathie Williams and her two girls were busy as a long line formed at the checkout counter and more were mingling throughout the store picking up great items to give or keep for themselves.

Indigo Ink quilt shop and the Mystic Rose antique store were also happy with the number of people who had passed through their stores on Saturday morning.

At the Lincoln Arts Institute guests were encouraged to come in and enjoy the art on display and also to purchase hand-blown glass ornaments that were being offered for sale.

Copper Penny on the north side of the square was busy with shoppers checking out all the vintage and antique offerings.

At Mary Todd Hallmark, Julie Tarter and her staff were hustling to keep up as shoppers filled the store and were grabbing everything from clothing to purses, jewelry, Hallmark Christmas Ornaments and much more.

Small Business Saturday was also the first day of the Lincoln Christmas Express, a local holiday shopping promotion. Each time a shopper made a purchase there was an opportunity to have their express ticket stamped. As shoppers moved from store to store, each purchase brought them one step closer to being eligible for up to $650 in local gift cards.

The Christmas Express promotion will continue until December 18th. At the end of the promotion, shoppers who have their tickets stamped by at least 10 participating businesses will be eligible to enter a drawing for one of three gifts. The first is $650 in gift cards, the second is $375 and the third $250 in local gift cards.

The downtown businesses have much to offer and everyone is encouraged to visit those, and our other fine retailers in town. There are no shortages in their shops and the items they offer are very special, perfect for gift giving or rewarding yourself this holiday season.
