Obituary

Hedwig (Hedy) Rose Yunker passed away at 4:55 pm Sunday, November 28,2021 at Copper Creek Memory Care, Lincoln.

Hedy was born on May 4, 1944, in Lincoln, daughter of Frank and Ida Schreiber, Sr. She married the love of her life, Frank Yunker, on February 10, 1973, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2018.

Surviving Hedy are two nephews John and David Schreiber and their families.

Hedy was preceded in death by her husband Frank Yunker and her four brothers- Bob, Jack, Jim, and Herman (Shortey) Schreiber., She is the last of her immediate family.

Hedy attended Central Grade School and graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1962. She also graduated from Brown’s Business College in Springfield, Illinois. Hedy worked for Franklin Life in Springfield before going to work at Cutler-Hammer/Eaton Corp. She retired from Eaton Corp after working there for close to 40 years.

Hedy and Frank were avid animal lovers especially their dogs named “Jack”. Hedy did not know a stranger. She had a smile that could light up a room and her laughter was contagious. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Logan County or the donor’s choice. Hedy’s body was donated to science care and then cremation rites will be accorded.

There are no services scheduled at this time, a celebration of life and burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
